Oil
Based Paints |
| |
Read the label
to find out if the paint is oil base or latex (water base)
paint. If you can't use your oil based paint or give it
away, save it in its original container. Store in a cool
dry place. Bring to ACUA's paint collection days
on the first Saturday of EVERY OTHER MONTH from 9 am to 2 pm.
Small amounts of oil base paints may also be dried out
as well using cat litter or oil spill absorbent material
and placed in the regular trash. |

Latex
Paints |
| |
All paints/sealers
that can be cleaned with soap and water are Latex. Try
to use it all or donate leftover paint to an individual
or local service organization for their use. If that is
not possible follow these instructions to safely dispose
of excess latex products: |
| |
- For small quantities, (containers that are less
than ¼ full), remove cover
and dry out in the can.
- For large quantities, add some absorbent material
such as 'Waste Paint Hardener', cat litter or rags
to speed drying). When the paint is dry, place the
can with its contents
in the regular trash.
