Beginning Thursday, January 2, the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) will be providing trash collection service to Weymouth Township. Waste collection had previously been handled by Waste Management, Inc. Prior to the expiration of their current contract, Weymouth Township officials went out to bid for waste collection and disposal service. ACUA was the lowest bidder.
“We’re thrilled to be providing trash collection service to residents of Weymouth Township,” said ACUA Executive Vice President and Chief Finance Officer Maria Mento. “Our staff has a good feel for the township given our long-standing recycling collection relationship. We’re expecting a seamless transition,” Mento added.
Weymouth Township residents should not notice any difference in service given that collection will happen on the same day for the entire municipality. Bulk items will be collected on trash days – four bulk items allowed per home, per trash collection day.
The only section of the township not serviced by ACUA is The Oaks of Weymouth, which is handled by a private company.
ACUA has also provided yard waste collection services to the Belcoville section of Weymouth Township since 2001. These services will also continue uninterrupted.
