The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) has again been named one of the “100 Best Fleets” in the 2013 “100 Best Fleets Program,” which recognizes peak performing public sector fleet operations in North America and encourages ever-increasing levels of performance improvement within the industry.
The 100 Best Fleets application is comprehensive; evaluating all areas of fleet operation, from how technology is used, to staff development and training, efficient operations, and resource stewardship. Using the 100 Best Fleets Program, ACUA has been able to benchmark their fleet operations, to identify areas of improvement and to chart continued progress.
“When the ACUA first applied to the program in 2011, the application offered an opportunity to review current practices and policies and to look for ways to improve,” ACUA president Rick Dovey explained. “We used the application process to hone our own fleet program, and we continue to use it as a guide to help us to refine our practices. The scope of criteria considered for the award is very broad, and challenges applicants to look beyond standard metrics. Taking things like collaboration, creativity, and employee recognition makes this award different from others, and fits with ACUA’s desire to foster a culture where employee innovation and ideas help drive our organization to provide the best and most cost effective services.”
Receiving the award for the third year, ACUA’s ranking has moved up from 91 in 2012 to 48 in 2013. For more about the program the current list of 100 Best Fleets winners for 2013: http://www.the100bestfleets.com/100_winners_2013.htm
