Clean Communities Groups Honored

On Wednesday, June 8, Atlantic County Clean Communities volunteers were honored at the ACUA's Clean Communities dinner, held at the Carriage House in Galloway Township. Thanks to these dedicated volunteers, 36 percent of County Roads in Atlantic County have been "adopted."  Over the past year, the program's 134 registered groups completed over 400 clean ups, collecting 16.4 tons of trash and almost 1.5 tons of recycling.  The Atlantic County Utilities Authority, which administers the program, also received a Partnership Award at the dinner, presented by Sandy Huber, director of the Statewide Clean Communities Council. The Clean Communities program in Atlantic County continues to grow, increasing the number of groups, clean ups and the amount of trash removed from roadways. Photos from the event, information on the program,  and how you can get involved are available on the ACUA website.
