The ACUA hosted a Sustainable Jersey Meeting on Thursday, August 27 from 9 am to 12 noon at 6700 Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township.
SUSTAINABLE JERSEY™is a certification program for municipalities in New Jersey that want to go green, control costs and save money, and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term. It encompasses issues such as global warming, pollution, biodiversity, land use air and water quality, equity, buying local, local living economies, and sustainable agriculture.
At this event, participants learned about building an effective Green Team and what is required to achieve Sustainable Jersey certification, with special attention on assessing existing municipal programs and gaining points for waste management and recycling.
