2022 Atlantic County Master Composter Training

ACUA and the Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station present this composting training to local residents.  This year, the class is offered in a hybrid format, providing a combination of virtual guest speakers, in-person learning opportunities, field trips, and hands-on activities.  This class will meet for 7 sessions throughout the spring and will help develop a strong understanding of the basics of backyard composting, how it works, and troubleshooting techniques. Program participants can go on to share their new skills through volunteer activities to achieve Master Composter certification.

Thursday, February 24 - 5:30 pm – Intro class (virtual) 

Saturday, February 26  - 9-12:30 pm - Field trip! View local composting processes (in-person)

Thursday, March 10 - 5:30 pm  - Soil and Compost – (virtual)

Thursday, March 24 - 5:30 pm - Composting with Manures – (virtual)

Thursday, April 7 - 5:30 pm - Vermicomposting – (in-person)

Thursday, April 28 - 5:30 pm - Commercial and Community Composting – (virtual)

Saturday, May 14 - 1-4 pm - Compost Expo Day at ACUA  - training, activities, class wrap-up (in-person)
