We are so excited to invite volunteers to our facility! Please email (ademitroff@acua.com) or call us (609-272-6950) to register for a volunteer session - dates and times specified below.

Native Plant Garden
Sat Oct 28th 1-3 p.m.; Wed Nov 15th 3-5 p.m.

Native plants flourish and thrive in our garden, but unfortunately, so do lots of weeds!  These weeds are beginning to take charge, so it’s important to (literally) tackle this problem, without chemicals- of course! Please dress for outdoor work  - sturdy shoes are a plus.

ACUA Nature/Poetry Trail Maintenance
Fri Nov 3rd 2-4 p.m. and Mon Nov 6th 3-5 p.m.

Our Poetry Trail, located behind the GEO Building, is loved by guests of all ages.  This trail needs a little attention and upkeep.  Think: litter pick-up, invasive species removal, and planning for future trail expansion!

America Recycles Day
November 17th 3 p.m. -6 p.m.

Come spread the message about the importance of recycling with children! We will spend the afternoon doing crafts and hands-on activities that promote beneficial reuse of materials.  Stick around to put on a hard-hat, and you can even take a behind the scenes tour of the Recycling Center to see how the massive machines and efficient team of workers get the material sorting job done!

ACUA Explorers Post
Fourth Thursday of Every Month; Sept – May *some exceptions apply

Our Explorers Post is ideal for high school students interested in a future environmental career.  During meetings, we put on our boots and go behind the scenes to see what it takes to do the work our company does every day. This requires an honest interest in the program and working with high school participants.  It’s not a huge time commitment, you’ll only rack up about 2 hours each month (plus time for online safety training.)

Obliterators – perfect for individuals and groups!

ACUA began a project to help combat litter in Atlantic County.  How it works: Residents see roadside litter, take a photo, then post it to our Obliterators Facebook page.  From there, page members will arrange a date to meet and clean up that trash.  ACUA does not make this schedule, it is determined by the group members, but we are happy to provide all supplies needed.  So, do YOU know of a spot that needs attention?? Submit it, then see if you can organize a clean-up group!

Upcoming Spring opportunities include:

  • ACUA Earth Day (Color Run, event setup, game assistance, event breakdown, etc.)
  • Litter Cleanups
