We want to thank everyone who joined us virtually or in-person for our Drive Electric Celebration. Our "hybrid" event, in honor of National Drive Electric Week, was a great opportunity to hear from experts in the EV industry and check out electric vehicles in-person.

Speaker Bios


Andrea Friedman
Andrea Friedman supervises electric vehicle programs in the Division of Air Quality at the NJDEP. Andrea focuses on policy and program development, implementing new initiatives, public charging infrastructure, and electrification of the state fleet. 

Andrea is celebrating her 20th anniversary at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection! Previously, Andrea was a founding member of the DEP Office of Climate and Energy, working at the intersection of climate change, clean energy and clean transportation.

Eve Gabel-Frank
Eve Gabel-Frank, Associate at Gabel Associates, has expertise in environmental and transportation planning with a focus on transit planning and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.

Ms. Gabel-Frank’s work strongly focuses on transportation electrification and provides key support for the ChargEVC-NJ coalition, a diverse group of stakeholders advocating for electrification of the transportation sector. Some of her key tasks include research support for comprehensive EV studies, membership recruitment, marketing activities including maintaining an active presence on social media platforms, attending conferences, and facilitating Ride-and-Drive events.  She also supports policy and regulatory matters through interaction with state agencies. In addition, Ms. Gabel-Frank performs geographic analysis for various studies and projects. These maps have been used to identify EV opportunities and the optimal locations for charging infrastructure, as well as create statewide and utility service area demographic profiles.

James Sherman
Mr. Sherman is co-founder and currently serves as V.P. and Chief Operating Officer of Climate Change Mitigation Technologies LLC (CCMT).  CCMT is a New Jersey based developer of zero emission medium and heavy-duty truck fleet projects.  He is responsible for CCMT’s day-to-day operations, including sales, project development, project management, and governmental affairs.  CCMT is responsible for some of the first-ever heavy-duty zero emission truck projects in New Jersey including 5 zero emission battery electric garbage trucks for Jersey City and 10 zero emission yard tractors for the Red Hook Container Terminal in Port Newark.   

Mr. Sherman is a cum laude graduate of Queens College, CUNY with a B.A. in urban geography.  He has a diploma in real estate investment and analysis from the NYU Graduate Center and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School where he was the Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review.  He served as Assistant Counsel of the NYCDEP from 1994 – 1998 and thereafter practiced environmental law in New Jersey for 20+ years.  He is a former Chairperson of the Montclair Township Environmental Commission and a former trustee of the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions.  He co-authored the Sustainable Montclair Planning Guide in 2003 and wrote the Montclair Tree Preservation ordinance.

Dr. Patrick Hossay
Professor Patrick Hossay is the founding chair of the Energy Studies and Sustainability programs at Stockton University where he teaches courses in energy science, automotive technology, and green vehicle innovations. He is also an experienced aircraft and automotive mechanic, and enjoys restoring classic cars and motorcycles. His recent book, Automotive Innovations, examines cutting-edge innovations in automotive engineering and design.
